AGACIRO DEVELOPMENT FUND DELEGATION AT ULK KIGALI

Today 3rd February 2017, Agaciro Development Fund delegation made of Francine Mujawamariya, Chief Fundraising Manager and Eddy Kayonga, also working for Agaciro Development Fund,  visited ULK Kigali Campus to share with the campus community information on the strides so far made by this Fund ever since it was initiated back in 2012.

Upon their arrival at the campus, they were ushered and shortly after, a word of prayer was said to kick-start the event.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Ezechiel Sekibibi, ULK Vice Chancellor, expressed his gratitude vis-à-vis the delegation’s visit and thereafter, he handed them the microphone to disclose the motive behind their visit.

In her talk, Francine Mujawamariya thanked ULK staff for massive participation to the meeting and she proceeded with her message.

Giving the historical background of the fund, she said that Agaciro is Rwanda’s sovereign wealth fund that was proposed by Rwandans at the ninth Umushyikirano (National Dialogue Council) in December 2011. The Fund was then launched officially by President Paul Kagame on 23 August, 2012.  She further said that Rwandans found out that it was the right time to strive for self-reliance and avoid the mentality that those from beyond the borders will come and sort out the problems that impinge on their lives day in, day out.

“ Upon realizing that it was not good to always depend on foreign aid, the government decided to establish this Fund and we are very grateful the initiative has been bearing fruits since its inception”, She proudly said.

Mujawamariya went further to thank Kigali Independent University ULK for its tangible contribution made to Agaciro Development Fund. She praised the management of the ULK for having been at the forefront in urging their staff to significantly contribute to this noble cause.

At Agaciro Development Fund, we are not unthankful. We always find it an absolute must to thank those who selflessly contribute to the expansion of this Fund. It is in this respect that we have come to thank ULK for your significant contribution made to this Fund. To tell you the truth, you are among key contributors

Towards the end of her talk, Mujawamariya called for more contributions to be made and reminded that everyone gives according to their financial means. Her request was unanimously saluted and this marked the end of the function.
