To new students, Prof. Dr. Rwigamba Balinda ensured them that they shall never regret to have chosen ULK because it is a good choice. After explaining what philosophy is, he told students four fundamental principles ULK is based on namely to have faith in God, to know our mission on earth, to live ethical values and to have positive thinking.

As for “Quality” Professor Rwigamba, a man with a long experience in education of higher learning, said that ULK was found as a result of a set of best practices gathered from various universities.

He emphasized that quality is a result of the above principles and the philosophy of the institution. He added that you can’t talk about quality without talking about such important points as excellent and well prepared programmes, well conducted assessment conducted by both lecturers and students in their turn as well as qualified lecturers.

He asked students, meeting all standards set forth by the Ministry of Education, to be committed and responsible for all their work and therefore suggested them the following pieces of advice will enable them succeed: participation to all sessions, personal regular work, group discussion, visit libraries, to have good knowledge of language and ICT skills.

The event proceeded with the guidance provided by Dr. Okoko Osambo, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics of ULK who briefed new students on ULK academic regulations, code of conduct as well as the modular system of education and methods of assessment.

Thereafter students were taken around to visit various facilities namely both digital and physical libraries, classes, reading rooms, workshops and offices. Induction week is a one week programme meant for all students.
