ULK CLOSES INDUCTION WEEK

Today, October 9, 2015 ULK closed the induction week which has been going on since Monday. The idea of such programme is to help new students be able to integrate in the life on campus. Through the whole week, both new students were taught such subjects as entrepreneurship, values of Rwanda and the related.
The closing ceremony today brought together both new and ongoing students as well as ULK officials and staff. The guest of honor who come to officially close the function is Prof. Dr. Rwigamba Balinda, Founder and President of Kigali Independent University ULK.

After a word of prayer, a football game was played between the team of new students and that of those of upper classes. The team of upper classes beat the team of Year one 1-0. The function was made enjoyable by both students and the staff through traditional dances, symbolic traditional fights with sticks and other games which proved students to be talented.

After the above match, Vice Chancellor of ULK, Dr. Ezechiel Sekibibi thanked all players for a friendly game they played and took that opportunity to encourage new students to take part all activities.

In his speech, Mr. Mugabo Gerald, the Guild president of AGEULK gave a brief background on what activities carried out during induction week and presented pledges they are committed to fulfilling, as an association of students. Those pledges include follow up on studies, the responsibility to impart values and taboos of Rwandan culture, building of a room of best practices, engaging students in research activities, improving students’ welfare through sensitizations and participating in activities of economic empowerment in the areas surrounding ULK.

After the presentation, both Vice Chancellor and Guild president of AGEULK proceeded to sign pledges in front of ULK community. Thereafter, Dr. Ezechiel thanked students for their participation in various activities and promised them that ULK is committed to impart various skills and knowledge them.
Founder and president of ULK, Prof. Dr. Rwigamba Balinda was the guest of honor in the function. In his speech he expressed his vote of thanks to different people.

“ I am grateful to God for all the realizations we make thanks to His guidance, my special thanks also go to the President of the Republic of Rwanda for his commitment to promote Rwandan values.” He said

He thanked all people who participated in order to make the event happen. He also thanked new students and reminded them that they are no longer new because they are among their counterparts. He asked the latter to continue to train the new ones so that they might abide by the Rwandan values and thus reach their goals and asked them to be their role models.

Prof. Rwigamba Balinda reminded all students that Rwandan values and taboos constitute the foundation of education at Kigali Independent University ULK. He thanked the National Commission of Itorero for all the initiatives they put in place and finally he officially closed Induction week.
